About Me

“Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.” - Max Ehrman

There is a point you have come to where you know something in your life is not in harmony. Either you feel disconnected from yourself, your values, your purpose, and/or in relationship with others. You have grown accustomed to behaving, thinking, and feeling in certain ways that have become how you identify and what is true to you. The truths by which you live by often dictate how you relate to yourself and to the world around you. When you engage in the healing process of counseling, you dare to examine the stories you live your life by (that no longer serve you).

Through a collaborative process based on trust and sense of safety, we will be able to examine the dissatisfaction you feel, the hurts and wounds you carry, and find ways to engage in growth and transformation to create your best self and life. The empowerment you will experience through healing wounds and re-defining yourself, are some of the most vital steps one can take in life. Healing never stops, but healing can become easier with commitment and dedication to self-improvement.

I will walk alongside you and witness you as your authentic self. No matter what your identities are, where you are from, or your history, I will honor you through providing a nonjudgmental and empathic space to find the peace you deserve. My approach to counseling is founded upon social justice values and intersectional feminism. Other approaches include existential, humanistic, client-centered, strength-based, mindfulness, and narrative theories. I specialize in many areas of need including trauma, identity, LGBTQ+ issues, oppression, relationships, depression, anxiety, spirituality, and grief and loss.

Education and Training

I am a graduate of the Antioch University Seattle’s Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I completed my clinical internship at MEND Seattle where I have had extensive training in anti-oppression based therapy and intersectional feminism. I had training and experience during that time with treating grief and loss, trauma and abuse, identity development, gender and sexual orientation, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I have training in EMDR and IFS (Internal Family Systems) which are therapies that help treat trauma, complex PTSD, and other mental health issues. I work with all populations and have specialized working with people of color and LGBTQ+ identified individuals. I utilize a blend of humanistic, existential, and client-centered approaches. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington (LH 61212242).

EMDR

WHAT IS EMDR THERAPY?

When you feel stuck in patterns of distress and are struggling to overcome past experiences that you have a hard time letting go of, or if you are feeling stuck in your current talk therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a great therapy to effectively heal your trauma, distress/anxiety and other emotional challenges.

EMDR therapy is a form of psychotherapy that specializes in helping individuals work through/process traumatic memories, distressing beliefs, and emotions within an environment that prioritizes a sense of safety and support. EMDR is a leading therapy in treating various mental health challenges and increasing healing and sustainable change.

WHAT DOES EMDR HELP WITH?

EMDR helps treat conditions caused by trauma. This could be nightmares, PTSD, difficult personal interactions, difficulty in relationships, fears/phobias, anxiety, and depression.

HOW DO I KNOW IF EMDR IS RIGHT FOR ME?

EMDR is right for individuals that are ready to get “unstuck” with their past traumas and traumatic memories that have shaped their present day mental wellbeing. If you are wanting to alleviate your psychological distress, negative thought patterns/beliefs, anxiety and depression and find a deeper sense of calm and safety in the world, EMDR may be the therapy that works for you.

Please reach out to me if you are interested in learning more about this process as it has shown to be highly effective with individuals in finding healing and lasting change. Please watch the video link below to find out more about how EMDR may be a good step for you to take in your healing journey.

Clinical Supervision

I am a Washington State approved Clinical Supervisor and am seeking to offer clinical supervision to those seeking full licensure or those wanting to deepen their clinical skills in their already established practice. I am hoping to work with therapist associates who have some experience already in setting up their private practice or working in other clinical settings and needing a holistic supervision experience.

My Approach:

  • I seek to engage supervisees in a collaborative and relational approach to building a clinically sound practice, identifying one’s resonant niché, and to develop one’s clinical mind and tailoring your approach to varying client presentations and issues.

  • I want to help clinicians who approach their work from a social justice and systems perspective. I also want to help newer clinicians focus on what a sustainable practice means for them, while honoring their capacity, internalized narratives of worth, strengths, and resources.

  • I also have experience navigating private practice building and sustainability as an HSP (highly sensitive person) with a history of chronic illness. I encourage those who identify this way to seek the proper support to sustain your business and wellbeing as a clinician.

  • In my clinical work, I have predominantly met with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities (with my own personal overlap being part of a multicultural, South Asian diaspora, and queer communities) and also have experience working with all identities.

  • I am trained in and incorporate an eclectic blend of depth-based existential, humanistic, narrative, developmental attachment trauma, IFS, and client-centered approaches and can be used to help you develop those modalities but are not limited to these approaches.
